Collecting thirty rings completes the level, the next level will be exactly the same but faster, missing ten rings means Game Over. A series of rings scroll in from left to right and the player's task is to collect them by moving Tails up/down by means of the two buttons to the right of the screen. This is a side scrolling game in which the player controls Tails who appears on the right of the screen. The game is played on a small LCD screen measuring 2cm by 1.5cm which has a fixed cloudscape background. The game comes in a small plastic case with an embossed the principle character. Tails' Skypatrol is a simple handheld game that was included in McDonalds' Happy Meals.
